Keeping it short and simple as I remember when Power Rangers was like everywhere back in the day.

I remember when every kid wanted to be the Red Ranger on the playground or on playdates. It's hard to believe those Power Rangers will likely still be talked about even as we are on space stations to God knows where years and years from now.

Take me back to August 28, 1993

Let's go back to the nineties.

It is Saturday, August 28, 1993. Babies who are born today will have the star sign Virgo. The work week is over and Saturday has finally come, so people are spending time with their kids, going to bars, shopping, playing video games, and watching sports.

The summer of 1993 is coming to an end and fall is just around the corner. In America, the song "Can't Help Falling In Love" by UB40 is at the top of the singles charts, while "Living On My Own" by Freddie Mercury is the number-one song in the UK. Bill Clinton is the President of the United States, and the movie Rising Sun is at the top of the box office.

John Major is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Texting is not a thing yet. Instead, people are using landline phones and pagers. Furthermore, most people have never heard of the Internet. In fashion, many of the trends from the late 1980s are still in vogue. Colored tights, denim overalls, leotards, flannel shirts, and shoulder pads are all fashionable at the moment. Grunge fashion has also become mainstream, popularizing band t-shirts, ripped jeans, mom jeans, and Doc Martens.

A war is continuing to rage in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Meanwhile, in technology news, a relatively new storage format called the CD is beginning to outpace the regular cassette tape in music sales. The disc-based format gives listeners the ability to skip between songs instead of having to manually rewind and forward. A playing discs game called "Pogs" is currently spreading in popularity throughout the world.

It's 1993, so radio stations are being dominated by the likes of Meat Loaf, UB40, Snow, Haddaway, Whitney Houston, Take That, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. It has been announced that NASA has lost radio contact with its spacecraft the Mars Observer. The loss in communication occurred just days before it was due to begin entry into the planet's atmosphere. The media has reported that pop icon Michael Jackson is under investigation for child sexual abuse. Jackson has labeled the claims "extortion".

In television news, a new children's show called the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" has recently made its debut. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Vincent Price, River Phoenix, Frank Zappa, and Charizma would all still be alive. On TV, people are watching popular shows such as "Sherlock Holmes", "Family Matters", "Home Improvement", and "Baywatch".

Meanwhile, gamers are playing titles such as "Paperboy", "Night Trap", "Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Trouble in Wackyland", and "Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind". Kids and teenagers are watching TV shows such as "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood", "Thomas the Tank Engine", "Full House", and "Rugrats". Popular toys at the moment include Screwball Scramble, the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive, Lego Pirates, and Littlest Pet Shop.
