17 years since Ranieri was sacked by Chelsea! It really does not seem that long ago. That was back when Chelsea first started to spend a lot of money. I remember they used to call Ranieri the "tinkerman" because he was constantly chopping and changing his squad, to the point that they were never able to gel together.

Take me back to May 31, 2004

Let's go back to the 2000s.

The date is May 31, 2004, and it's a Monday. Babies who are born today will have the star sign Gemini. The weekend has just passed, so some people are feeling a bit down. Others are tired after partying too much.

The summer of 2004 has finally arrived. The weather has warmed up, and the evenings are brighter than usual. The school year is nearly finished. It is Memorial Day in the United States, which means that summer has unofficially begun. In America, the song "Burn" by Usher is at the top of the singles charts, while "F.U.R.B." by Frankee is the number-one song in the UK.

George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie Shrek 2 is at the top of the box office. Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On television, people are watching popular shows such as "That '70s Show", "Futurama", "Cold Case", and "Room Raiders".

In technology news, more and more people are beginning to gain access to the Internet. Internet speeds are increasing and MP3 sharing is beginning to threaten the existence of music stores. People are using a software program called LimeWire to share music, software, and videos. Unfortunately, it is also a haven for computer viruses. Smartphones don't exist yet. There are no Androids or iPhones.

Cameras on phones are quickly becoming the norm. However, the photographs that they take are still lacking in quality. Internet users are using MSN Messenger and AIM to chat with each other online. It's 2004, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of Usher, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, OutKast, Mario Winans, the Terror Squad and Ciara.

If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Ronald Reagan, Ray Charles, Marlon Brando, and Rick James would all still be alive. People are playing video games such as "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City", "Pro Evolution Soccer 3", "True Crime: Streets of LA", and "Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando". Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "The Fairly OddParents", "The Proud Family", "That's So Raven", and "Drake & Josh".

Children are playing with toys such as Bratz dolls, the Xbox, Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, and Micropets.
