HauntedWallflower

I still remember there being a time that you could not get away from seeing iCarly on Nick. And it's also sad to know about what Jennette McCurdy was going through with her mother at the time given what she has talked about in the years since the show ended.

HauntedWallflower is pretty much right, as iCarly was just about everywhere back in the day (I think it was on almost every single day at one point in the early teens), and much like them, the show has a different perspective now that Jennette McCurdy's autobiography has been out for some time now.

Being out of the target demo and as popular as it was back in the day, iCarly was one of those shows that my aunt and uncle forbid my cousins from watching and now looking back I am glad they did with the hidden innuendo and the alleged behavior from a showrunner behind the scenes.

Speaking as someone whose parents banned Nickelodeon (mainly for the live action kidcoms they aired at the time, but keeping it on cartoons and pre school shows.) and I'm glad they did as iCarly had hidden innuendos (that even older shows such as Ren and Stimpy & Rocko's Modern Life would likely gotten a network complaint.) I wouldn't even let my own kids watch.

Take me back to September 8, 2007

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

It is Saturday, September 8, 2007. Anyone born today will have the star sign Virgo. People are currently enjoying their weekend.

Schools and colleges are starting again, and fall has officially arrived. As a result, temperatures are beginning to cool, and trees are starting to shed their leaves. In the United States, Labor Day of 2007 has recently come and passed. To many, this means that the summer is officially over. In America, the song "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie is at the top of the singles charts, while "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston is the number-one song in the UK.

George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie 3:10 to Yuma (2007) is at the top of the box office. Gordon Brown is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Practically every teenager and adult has a MySpace or Bebo account.

A rock music genre called "Emo" is extremely popular at the moment. The genre, which stands for "emotional hardcore", has created a subculture of "Emos" who dye their hair black and wear thick-framed glasses. Meanwhile, in technology news, more and more people are beginning to use the Internet on their phones. This transition towards mobile Internet has been aided by the recent roll-out of faster 3G networks and the introduction of larger touchscreen phones. It's 2007, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Sean Kingston, Soulja Boy and Nelly Furtado.

Financial markets are currently rattled and issues with the U.S. subprime mortgage sector seem to be spiraling out of control. American Home Mortgage recently filed for bankruptcy and international banking group BNP Paribas has blocked withdrawals from three of its hedge funds due to a lack of liquidity. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Colin McRae, Sean Taylor, Evel Knievel, and Ike Turner would all still be alive. On TV, people are watching popular shows such as "Smallville", "Without a Trace", "Pimp My Ride", and "The Hills".

Meanwhile, gamers are playing titles such as "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance", "Final Fantasy XII", and "Wii Play". Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "Ed, Edd n Eddy", "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody", "Johnny Test", and "The Hills". Popular toys at the moment include Magic Glow Doodle Bear, the Nintendo Wii, Iggle Piggle, and iPod Touch.
