I was one year old in 1994, but I recently saw a video of a B-52 bomber that crashed at an Air Force base, and the camera said "June 24, 1994." There is also a Wikipedia article about it for more information.

Take me back to June 24, 1994

Let's take a walk down memory lane.

It is Friday, June 24, 1994. Babies who are born today will have the star sign Cancer. People have "that Friday feeling" and are excited for the weekend.

The summer of 1994 is in full swing. The weather is warm, and the evenings are brighter than usual. Most schools and colleges are now finished until August or September. In America, the song "I Swear" by All-4-One is at the top of the singles charts, while "Love Is All Around" by Wet Wet Wet is the number-one song in the UK. Bill Clinton is the President of the United States, and the movie Wolf is at the top of the box office.

John Major is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, in technology news, a relatively new storage format called the CD is beginning to outpace the regular cassette tape in music sales. The disc-based format gives listeners the ability to skip between songs instead of having to manually rewind and forward. A new form of communication called "text messaging" is starting to become more widespread. However, it can only be done if both the sender and the receiver are on the same cell network.

Meanwhile, a global system called "the Internet" is also starting to take off. Each day, more and more people are learning how to send emails and browse "websites" on the World Wide Web by connecting their IBM computers to noisy dial-up modems. In fashion, "grunge" clothing has fallen out of favor, and women are beginning to wear form-fitting outfits such as slip dresses and pencil skirts. Movies such as Clueless and The Craft have popularized the "sexy schoolgirl" look. It's 1994, so radio stations are being dominated by the likes of All-4-One, Boyz II Men, R. Kelly, Céline Dion, Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Meat Loaf, Bon Jovi, Wet Wet Wet, Rednex and Mariah Carey.

In Europe, a war is continuing to rage in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the continent of Africa, a horrible event is unfolding, as the Hutu majority in Rwanda attempt to wipe out the Tutsi minority. This genocide began following the assassination of President Juvenal Habyarimana. In the United States, the 1994 FIFA World Cup is being held.

In basketball, the Houston Rockets have won the 1994 NBA Finals after defeating the New York Knicks 4-3. Former NFL star O.J. Simpson has pleaded "Not Guilty" to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Simpson was arrested earlier this month for the murders after he led police in Los Angeles on a highly-televised chase in his white Ford Bronco. A new animated film called "The Lion King" has just been released in movie theaters.

If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Andrés Escobar, Raul Julia, Richey Edwards, and Eazy E would all still be alive. On TV, people are watching popular shows such as "Married... with Children", "Melrose Place", "Mad About You", and "Babylon 5". Meanwhile, gamers are playing titles such as "Mortal Kombat II", "Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master", "Myst", and "RoboCop Versus The Terminator".

Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood", "Married... with Children", "Are You Afraid of the Dark?", and "Living Single". Popular toys at the moment include Lego Pirates, G.I. Joe (figures), Nerf Blaster, and Littlest Pet Shop.
