Discussion about this date:
One of my uncles used to tell me on my sick days from school that he and his siblings (my mom included) watched TPIR and two other game shows on their black & white TV set on Labor Day 1972 after things went awry with a family gathering they were going to have had. And hard to believe that show has been on the air for almost 50 years too.

And who would have thought TPIR would be one of those shows you would watch when you were sick at home.

What's your favorite game on The Price Is Right

What a day it was indeed, as it also included U.S. swimmer Mark Spitz, who became the first to win seven medals at a single Olympic Games, winning his seventh gold at the Munich Olympics in the 400-meter medley relay.
On a personal thought, this could be a pub trivia question about what TV show also premiered on this day.

I had a coworker who brought up a childhood memory of them crying whenever the yodeling mountain climber game was played and lost on The Price is Right, so without giving that coworker's age, I knew that show has been around 'for a while'. And it's very interesting to see that the premiere date was also the same day as Mark Spitz winning his 7th gold medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich.
