RAR

I found my old college ID card and saw that it was issued on this date. I think it was induction day. I was walking through the college when two girls basically ambushed me and told me that I needed to sit down so that they could take my photo for the ID card. This was days before I moved into a new apartment to a new city. I still remember how unseasonably warm it was for September. 15 years ago... man does time go fast 😕

Take me back to September 7, 2006

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

The date is September 7, 2006, and it's a Thursday. Anyone born today will have the star sign Virgo. Schools and colleges are starting again, and fall has officially arrived. As a result, temperatures are beginning to cool, and trees are starting to shed their leaves.

In the United States, Labor Day of 2006 has recently come and passed. To many, this means that the summer is officially over. The song "Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake is at the top of the music charts in the United States and the United Kingdom. George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie Invincible is at the top of the box office.

Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On television, people are watching popular shows such as "ER", "The Shield", "Lost", and "Date My Mom". People are using a software program called LimeWire to share music, software, and videos. Unfortunately, it is also a haven for computer viruses.

Smartphones don't exist yet. There are no Androids or iPhones. Cameras on phones have now become the norm. Furthermore, the quality of these cameras is continuing to increase with each new phone release. We are now entering an age where any event can be instantly photographed or recorded. Practically every teenager and adult has a MySpace or Bebo account.

It's 2006, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of Daniel Powter, Sean Paul, Nelly Furtado, James Blunt, Gnarls Barkley, Shakira and Natasha Bedingfield. A rock music genre called "Emo" is extremely popular at the moment. The genre, which stands for "emotional hardcore", has created a subculture of "Emos" who dye their hair black and wear thick-framed glasses. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Adrienne Shelly, James Brown, Gerald Ford, and Bam Bam Bigelow would all still be alive.

People are playing video games such as "Civilization IV", "Mario Kart DS", "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion", and "Kingdom Hearts II". Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "Danny Phantom", "Unfabulous", "Wonder Pets!", and "The Hills". Children are playing with toys such as VideoNow (portable player), the PSP, K'NEX Big Air Ball Tower, and the Xbox 360.
