Take me back to October 5, 2009

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

The date is October 5, 2009, and it's a Monday. Anyone born today will have the star sign Libra. The weekend has just passed, so some people are feeling a bit down. Others are tired after partying too much.

The summer is long gone. Temperatures have become much cooler, and the evenings are beginning to get darker. There is a fresh, earthy scent in the air, and fallen leaves have carpeted driveways, lawns, pathways, and sidewalks. In America, the song "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas is at the top of the singles charts, while "Oopsy Daisy" by Chipmunk is the number-one song in the UK.

Barack Obama is the President of the United States, and the movie Zombieland is at the top of the box office. Gordon Brown is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On television, people are watching popular shows such as "Grey's Anatomy", "The Hills", "Psych", and "Sons of Anarchy".

Meanwhile, in technology news, more and more people are beginning to use the Internet on their phones. This transition towards mobile Internet has been aided by the recent roll-out of faster 3G networks and the introduction of larger touchscreen phones. A growing social network called Facebook is beginning to steal users away from MySpace and Bebo. Video rental stores such as Blockbuster are struggling to compete with online streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu.

A music genre called Dubstep has started to go mainstream. It's 2009, so the music charts are filled with artists such as The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Flo Rida, Taylor Swift and T.I. Meanwhile, gaming fans are excited about the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Stephen Gately, Umaga, Brittany Murphy, and Corey Haim would all still be alive. People are playing video games such as "Fallout 3", "Left 4 Dead", "Minecraft", and "Batman: Arkham Asylum". Kids and teenagers are watching TV shows such as "Go, Diego, Go!", "Ben 10", "iCarly", and "Sonny with a Chance".

Children are playing with toys such as FurReal Friends Butterscotch Pony, Star Wars AT-TE Walker, Crayola Color Wonder Magic Brush, and Clipo Creativity Table.
