Take me back to January 7, 2008

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

The date is January 7, 2008, and it's a Monday. Anyone born today will have the star sign Capricorn. The weekend has just passed, so some people are feeling a bit down. Others are tired after partying too much.

People are starting to return back to work and school after the Christmas holidays. In America, the song "Low" by Flo-Rida & T-Pain is at the top of the singles charts, while "When You Believe" by Leon Jackson is the number-one song in the UK. George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets is at the top of the box office.

Gordon Brown is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On television, people are watching popular shows such as "King of the Hill", "The Wire", "Cold Case", and "Dexter". Practically every teenager and adult has a MySpace or Bebo account.

A rock music genre called "Emo" is extremely popular at the moment. The genre, which stands for "emotional hardcore", has created a subculture of "Emos" who dye their hair black and wear thick-framed glasses. Meanwhile, in technology news, more and more people are beginning to use the Internet on their phones. This transition towards mobile Internet has been aided by the recent roll-out of faster 3G networks and the introduction of larger touchscreen phones. A growing social network called Facebook is beginning to steal users away from MySpace and Bebo.

Video rental stores such as Blockbuster are struggling to compete with online streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu. It's 2008, so the music charts are filled with artists such as Flo Rida, Katy Perry, Rihanna and T.I. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Brad Renfro, Heath Ledger, VL Mike, and George Carlin would all still be alive.

People are playing video games such as "BioShock", "Halo 3", "Portal", and "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare". Kids and teenagers are watching TV shows such as "LazyTown", "Ben 10", "The Hills", and "Horrid Henry". Children are playing with toys such as Bionicle LEGO, Iggle Piggle, iPod Touch, and Pirates of the Caribbean ship.
