A sad day that we all knew was coming. I remember those Friday evenings, trying to pick out a movie to rent for the weekend. We didn't have easy access to online reviews, so you'd have to read the back of the DVD box to see what it was about and then just pick it based on whether you thought it sounded cool or not.

Take me back to November 6, 2013

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

It is Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Anyone born today will have the star sign Scorpio. It is "Hump Day", so many are beginning to think about the weekend ahead.

It's November, so the evenings are getting darker and the days are getting colder. In America, the song "Royals" by Lorde is at the top of the singles charts, while "Look Right Through" by Storm Queen is the number-one song in the UK. Barack Obama is the President of the United States, and the movie Ender's Game is at the top of the box office.

David Cameron is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Video rental stores such as Blockbuster are continuing to close their doors at the moment. Sadly, it seems as though they will be unable to compete with online streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu. It's 2013, so the music charts are being dominated by artists such as Macklemore, Robin Thicke, Imagine Dragons and Bruno Mars.

A social networking website called Vine is extremely popular at the moment. A new Internet meme called "Doge", which consists of an image of a Shiba Inu dog with broken English written on it, is being shared online at the moment. In baseball, the Boston Red Sox have won the 2013 World Series after defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2.

The FPS game "Call of Duty: Ghosts" has just been released by Infinity Ward. In soccer, managers Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane have taken over the Republic of Ireland national team. The movie rental company Blockbuster has just announced that it is ceasing all operations. The retailer had been struggling to compete with the rise of online streaming.

If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Paul Walker, Nelson Mandela, James Avery, and Ariel Sharon would all still be alive. On TV, people are watching popular shows such as "America's Next Top Model", "Black Mirror", "Catfish: The TV Show", and "Vikings". Meanwhile, gamers are playing titles such as "The Walking Dead", "Call of Duty: Black Ops II", "Dead Space 3", and "BioShock Infinite".

Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "Team Umizoomi", "Fish Hooks", "Bubble Guppies", and "Jake and the Never Land Pirates". Popular toys at the moment include the Xbox 360, NERF N-Strike Stampede ECS Blaster, My Own Leaptop, and Don't Rock The Boat.
