A friend of mine (who was a message board admin at the time and it was a labor of love for them) still remembers the morning after the Roy Horn tiger attack and when it was starting to make news coverage as they were dealing with a troll who started a flame war about the incident. Thank God, social media wasn't around back then, as it would have turned into something for the better or worse.

Much like TonySCV's friend, I was on a forum (though not on a forum admined by their friend, BTW.) and they dealt with some person with saying some vile stuff about the incident that thankfully got them banned with in hours of posting their sick junk.

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.
It is Saturday, October 4, 2003. Anyone born today will have the star sign Libra. People are currently enjoying their weekend.
The summer is long gone. Temperatures have become much cooler, and the evenings are beginning to get darker. There is a fresh, earthy scent in the air, and fallen leaves have carpeted driveways, lawns, pathways, and sidewalks. In America, the song "Baby Boy" by Beyonce is at the top of the singles charts, while "Where Is The Love" by The Black Eyed Peas is the number-one song in the UK.
George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie School of Rock is at the top of the box office. Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In technology news, more and more people are beginning to gain access to the Internet. Internet speeds are increasing and MP3 sharing is beginning to threaten the existence of music stores.
People are using a software program called LimeWire to share music, software, and videos. Unfortunately, it is also a haven for computer viruses. Smartphones don't exist yet. There are no Androids or iPhones. Cameras on phones are quickly becoming the norm. However, the photographs that they take are still lacking in quality.
It's 2003, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of 50 Cent, R. Kelly, Sean Paul, 3 Doors Down, Nelly, Evanescence, Chingy and Beyonce. Internet users are using MSN Messenger and AIM to chat with each other online. A flash animation of badgers singing "badger, badger, badger" has become a viral hit on the Internet. The animation, which loops indefinitely, was published by British animator Jonti Picking in September 2003.
