Napoleon Dynamite was one of those movies that was popular among my high school classmates and myself back in the day and I have a difficult time believing it has been 20 years already since it was released.

Take me back to June 11, 2004

Ready for a walk down memory lane?

The date is June 11, 2004, and it's a Friday. Anyone born today will have the star sign Gemini. Many people have "that Friday feeling" and are looking forward to the weekend.

The summer of 2004 is in full swing. The weather is warm, and the evenings are brighter than usual. Most schools and colleges are now finished until August or September. In America, the song "Burn" by Usher is at the top of the singles charts, while "I Don't Wanna Know" by Mario Wynans & Enya is the number-one song in the UK. George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is at the top of the box office.

Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On television, people are watching popular shows such as "Andromeda", "8 Simple Rules", "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service", and "Room Raiders". In technology news, more and more people are beginning to gain access to the Internet. Internet speeds are increasing and MP3 sharing is beginning to threaten the existence of music stores.

People are using a software program called LimeWire to share music, software, and videos. Unfortunately, it is also a haven for computer viruses. Smartphones don't exist yet. There are no Androids or iPhones. Cameras on phones are quickly becoming the norm. However, the photographs that they take are still lacking in quality.

Internet users are using MSN Messenger and AIM to chat with each other online. It's 2004, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of Usher, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, OutKast, Mario Winans, the Terror Squad and Ciara. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Marlon Brando, Rick James, Brian Clough, and Big Boss Man would all still be alive.

People are playing video games such as "FIFA Football 2004", "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow", and "Rome: Total War". Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "Johnny Bravo", "7th Heaven", "The Wild Thornberrys", and "My Life as a Teenage Robot". Children are playing with toys such as HitClips audio player, Hokey Pokey Elmo, LEGO Clikits, and Bulls Eye Ball.
