Take me back to May 26, 2006

Let's go back to the 2000s.

It is Friday, May 26, 2006. Babies who are born today will have the star sign Gemini. People have "that Friday feeling" and are excited for the weekend.

The summer of 2006 has finally arrived. The weather has warmed up, and the evenings are brighter than usual. The school year is nearly finished. In the United States, it is the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. As a result, many Americans are looking forward to attending barbecues, picnics, and other outdoor events. In America, the song "S.O.S." by Rihanna is at the top of the singles charts, while "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley is the number-one song in the UK.

George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie X-Men: The Last Stand is at the top of the box office. Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. People are using a software program called LimeWire to share music, software, and videos. Unfortunately, it is also a haven for computer viruses.

Smartphones don't exist yet. There are no Androids or iPhones. Internet users are using MSN Messenger and AIM to chat with each other online. Cameras on phones have now become the norm. Furthermore, the quality of these cameras is continuing to increase with each new phone release. We are now entering an age where any event can be instantly photographed or recorded.

Practically every teenager and adult has a MySpace or Bebo account. It's 2006, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of Daniel Powter, Sean Paul, Nelly Furtado, James Blunt, Gnarls Barkley, Shakira and Natasha Bedingfield. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Charles Haughey, Steve Irwin, Adrienne Shelly, and James Brown would all still be alive.

On TV, people are watching popular shows such as "7th Heaven", "The Sopranos", "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", and "House". Meanwhile, gamers are playing titles such as "The Sims 2", "Nintendogs", "Civilization IV", and "The Godfather". Kids and teenagers are watching TV shows such as "Ed, Edd n Eddy", "Invader Zim", "Peppa Pig", and "Ben 10".

Popular toys at the moment include Bionicle LEGO, RoboSapien (toy robot), Baby Annabell, and Dora's Talking House.
