Take me back to January 5, 2006

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

The date is January 5, 2006, and it's a Thursday. Anyone born today will have the star sign Capricorn. People are starting to return back to work and school after the Christmas holidays.

In America, the song "Don't Forget About Us" by Mariah Carey is at the top of the singles charts, while "That's My Goal" by Shayne Ward is the number-one song in the UK. George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie The Chronicles of Narnia is at the top of the box office. Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

On television, people are watching popular shows such as "King of the Hill", "The Royle Family", "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". People are using a software program called LimeWire to share music, software, and videos. Unfortunately, it is also a haven for computer viruses. Smartphones don't exist yet. There are no Androids or iPhones.

Internet users are using MSN Messenger and AIM to chat with each other online. Cameras on phones have now become the norm. Furthermore, the quality of these cameras is continuing to increase with each new phone release. We are now entering an age where any event can be instantly photographed or recorded. Practically every teenager and adult has a MySpace or Bebo account.

It's 2006, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of Daniel Powter, Sean Paul, Nelly Furtado, James Blunt, Gnarls Barkley, Shakira and Natasha Bedingfield. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Chris Penn, J Dilla, Proof, and Big Hawk would all still be alive. People are playing video games such as "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas", "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory", "Lego Star Wars: The Video Game", and "Call of Duty 2".

Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "7th Heaven", "Malcolm in the Middle", "Teen Titans", and "Peppa Pig". Children are playing with toys such as Betty Spaghetty (doll), Bratz dolls, Tamagotchi Connection , and Dora's Talking House.
