Take me back to January 8, 2012

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

It is Sunday, January 8, 2012. Anyone born today will have the star sign Capricorn. People are currently enjoying their weekend. However, because it's a Sunday, some are dreading the days ahead.

The Christmas holiday season is long over, the decorations have been taken down, and a sense of normality has returned. In America, the song "Sexy And I Know It" by LMFAO is at the top of the singles charts, while "Paradise" by Coldplay is the number-one song in the UK. Barack Obama is the President of the United States, and the movie The Devil Inside is at the top of the box office.

David Cameron is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Video rental stores such as Blockbuster are continuing to close their doors at the moment. Sadly, it seems as though they will be unable to compete with online streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu. People are using pre-made comics called "Rage Comics" to share funny and relatable experiences.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, protests in Syria have snowballed, and a civil war has started. Armed militias are now beginning to spring up across the country. The slang phrase YOLO (You only live once) is starting to become more common. It's 2012, so the music charts are being dominated by artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Gotye, Flo Rida, LMFAO and Ellie Goulding.

A tragic hot air balloon crash near Carterton, New Zealand, has resulted in the deaths of all 11 people on board. A cringe-worthy Youtube video called "My Video for Briona" is going viral at the moment. The videos consists of a teenager expressing his love for his girlfriend by giving a soppy 2-minute-long monologue. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Whitney Houston, Trayvon Martin, Edd Gould, and MCA would all still be alive.

On TV, people are watching popular shows such as "The Office", "16 and Pregnant", "Community", and "Big Fat Gypsy Weddings". Meanwhile, gamers are playing titles such as "Grand Theft Auto IV", "Crysis 2", "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D", and "Minecraft". Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "SpongeBob SquarePants", "Peppa Pig", "Wonder Pets!", and "Pretty Little Liars".

Popular toys at the moment include Chixos Design, Rocky the Robot Truck, Duck Hunter, and Moxie Girlz Art-titude Dolls.
