How many years ago was 2016?

2016 was 7 years ago.

The last day of the year was December 31, 2016.

2016 was a pretty "interesting" year, to put it lightly.

Not only did former reality TV star Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton to become the new President of the United States, voters in the United Kingdom also opted to leave the European Union.

The Brexit referendum result prompted the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron.

To make things even more "interesting", 2016 decided to take some of our most beloved celebrities and sports stars away.

That year, David Bowie, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Johan Cruyff and George Michael all passed away.

To many, this was the year when things stopped making sense. It was the "warm up" that prepared us for the bizarreness of 2020.

One of the best examples of this occurred in the world of soccer, when Leicester City won the Premier League despite being 5000-to-1 underdogs.

Over in the United States, the Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 108 years.

Although 2016 was a little too exciting for most people, it wasn't just about celebrity deaths and ground-shaking political events. There were also a lot of good things. For example, Pokemon Go was probably the closest that we've ever been to world peace.

Stranger Things, Deadpool and "One Dance" by Drake were also released.

Looking back, it's kind of difficult to believe that all of this happened more than 7 years ago!
