Discussion about this date:

CS

The X Factor absolutely dominated Saturday night television during the 2000s. It was so popular that many of my friends refused to leave their houses until after it was finished. If we had plans to go to a bar, I'd have to wait around for them. I have many memories of Saturday evenings sitting on my couch waiting for it to finish (it was usually playing in my house as well because my mother was obsessed with it).

Take me back to September 4, 2004

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

It is Saturday, September 4, 2004. Anyone born today will have the star sign Virgo. People are currently enjoying their weekend.

Schools and colleges are starting again, and fall has officially arrived. As a result, temperatures are beginning to cool, and trees are starting to shed their leaves. In the United States, it is Labor Day weekend. People are attending barbecues and other gatherings. To many Americans, Labor Day represents the end of summer 2004. In America, the song "Lean Back" by Terror Squad is at the top of the singles charts, while "These Words" by Natasha Bedingfield is the number-one song in the UK.

George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie Hero is at the top of the box office. Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In technology news, more and more people are beginning to gain access to the Internet. Internet speeds are increasing and MP3 sharing is beginning to threaten the existence of music stores.

People are using a software program called LimeWire to share music, software, and videos. Unfortunately, it is also a haven for computer viruses. Smartphones don't exist yet. There are no Androids or iPhones. Cameras on phones are quickly becoming the norm. However, the photographs that they take are still lacking in quality.

Internet users are using MSN Messenger and AIM to chat with each other online. It's 2004, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of Usher, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, OutKast, Mario Winans, the Terror Squad and Ciara. Tragedy has struck Russia, as Islamic militants take over a school in Beslan, Russia. The siege comes to an end on the 3rd of September, with 334 people losing their lives.

If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Brian Clough, Big Boss Man, ODB, and Dimebag Darrell would all still be alive. On TV, people are watching popular shows such as "Malcolm in the Middle", "Andromeda", "Smallville", and "The Wire". Meanwhile, gamers are playing titles such as "Tony Hawk's Underground", "Call of Duty", "Manhunt", and "Counter-Strike: Source".

Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "Grounded for Life", "The Proud Family", "Danny Phantom", and "LazyTown". Popular toys at the moment include Bratz dolls, Micropets, Playmobil Airport, and Bratz Stylin' Salon 'N' Spa.
