Take me back to May 16, 2012

Let's take a walk down memory lane.

It is Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Babies who are born today will have the star sign Taurus. It is "Hump Day", so many are beginning to think about the weekend ahead.

The summer of 2012 has finally arrived. The weather has warmed up, and the evenings are brighter than usual. The school year is nearly finished. In America, the song "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gitye ft Kimbra is at the top of the singles charts, while "R.I.P." by Rita Ora ft Tinie Tempah is the number-one song in the UK. Barack Obama is the President of the United States, and the movie Think Like a Man is at the top of the box office.

David Cameron is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Video rental stores such as Blockbuster are continuing to close their doors at the moment. Sadly, it seems as though they will be unable to compete with online streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu. People are using pre-made comics called "Rage Comics" to share funny and relatable experiences.

It's 2012, so the music charts are being dominated by artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Gotye, Flo Rida, LMFAO and Ellie Goulding. Meanwhile, a new photo-sharing app called Instagram is currently surging in popularity. A video of Oklahoma City resident Kimberly Wilkins saying "Ain't Nobody Got Time for That" during an interview with a local news station is going viral.

The hit song "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen is the subject of a number of parodies and lip-dub videos. A masseur is suing John Travolta, alleging that the actor inappropriately touched him. The popular game Minecraft has just been released on the Xbox 360.

In soccer, Manchester City have won their first Premier League title after dramatically scoring two late goals against Queens Park Rangers in the final game. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Rodney King, Sherman Hemsley, Neil Armstrong, and Michael Clarke Duncan would all still be alive. On TV, people are watching popular shows such as "Grey's Anatomy", "The Big Bang Theory", "Raising Hope", and "Scandal".

Meanwhile, gamers are playing titles such as "Deus Ex: Human Revolution", "Batman: Arkham City", "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim", and "The Walking Dead". Kids and teenagers are watching TV shows such as "Dora the Explorer", "Curious George", "iCarly", and "Good Luck Charlie". Popular toys at the moment include the PlayStation 3, Rocky the Robot Truck, Liv Dolls, and Air Hogs Hawk Eye.
