Take me back to June 29, 2011

Let's go back to the 2010s.

The date is June 29, 2011, and it's a Wednesday. Babies who are born today will have the star sign Cancer. It is "Hump Day", so many are beginning to think about the weekend ahead.

The summer of 2011 is in full swing. The weather is warm, and the evenings are brighter than usual. Most schools and colleges are now finished until August or September. In America, the song "Rolling In The Deep" by Adele is at the top of the singles charts, while "Don't Wanna Go Home" by Jason Derulo is the number-one song in the UK. Barack Obama is the President of the United States, and the movie Cars 2 is at the top of the box office.

David Cameron is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On television, people are watching popular shows such as "Desperate Housewives", "House", "Prison Break", and "RuPaul's Drag Race". Video rental stores such as Blockbuster are continuing to close their doors at the moment. Sadly, it seems as though they will be unable to compete with online streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu.

People are using pre-made comics called "Rage Comics" to share funny and relatable experiences. It's 2011, so the music charts are being dominated by artists such as Adele, Maroon 5, LMFAO, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Bruno Mars. Anti-government protests are taking place in cities across Syria.

A civil war is raging on in Libya. Large battles are taking place between Colonel Gaddafi's government forces and Libyan rebels, who are being supported by NATO. There is a strange new fad called "planking", which involves a person lying face down in an unusual location. The ongoing trial of Casey Anthony for the murder her 2-year-old daughter Caylee is receiving widespread attention on social media.

A blackhat hacking group called "LulzSec" is receiving a lot of attention following a number of high-profile attacks on companies such as Sony. An Advice Animal meme called "Good Guy Greg" is beginning to take off in popularity. A new legal drama series called "Suits" has just premiered on TV.

Google have just launched their new social network "Google+" and people are wondering if it can challenge Facebook for the top spot. Javier Colon has won the first season of The Voice. Internet users are poking fun at a clearly Photoshopped image that shows three Chinese officials floating on top of a road that they were supposed to be inspecting.

If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Betty Ford, Roberts Blossom, Amy Winehouse, and Zyzz would all still be alive. People are playing video games such as "Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood", "Total War: Shogun 2", "Terraria", and "L.A. Noire". Kids and teenagers are watching TV shows such as "LazyTown", "Johnny Test", "Ben 10", and "Team Umizoomi".

Children are playing with toys such as Roboraptor, the KidiZoom Camera, Liv Dolls, and Gentle Giraffe.
