Keyboard Cat always reminds me of that time when quirky Internet memes, demotivational posters, and trends were just beginning to take off. Most people didn't even know what the word "meme" meant back then, as the term was mostly confined to websites such as 4chan. Reddit wasn't really a thing either. Instead, you had the Something Awful forums, etc.

Take me back to June 7, 2007

Let's take a stroll down memory lane.

The date is June 7, 2007, and it's a Thursday. Anyone born today will have the star sign Gemini. The summer of 2007 is in full swing. The weather is warm, and the evenings are brighter than usual. Most schools and colleges are now finished until August or September.

The song "Umbrella" by Rihanna is at the top of the music charts in the United States and the United Kingdom. George W. Bush Jnr. is the President of the United States, and the movie Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is at the top of the box office. Tony Blair is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

On television, people are watching popular shows such as "Last of the Summer Wine", "Stargate SG-1", "The Hills", and "Psych". Practically every teenager and adult has a MySpace or Bebo account. A rock music genre called "Emo" is extremely popular at the moment. The genre, which stands for "emotional hardcore", has created a subculture of "Emos" who dye their hair black and wear thick-framed glasses.

Meanwhile, in technology news, more and more people are beginning to use the Internet on their phones. This transition towards mobile Internet has been aided by the recent roll-out of faster 3G networks and the introduction of larger touchscreen phones. It's 2007, so the music charts are being dominated by the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Sean Kingston, Soulja Boy and Nelly Furtado. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Eddie Jamaal Griffin, Luciano Pavarotti, Colin McRae, and Sean Taylor would all still be alive.

People are playing video games such as "Saints Row", "Just Cause", "Final Fantasy XII", and "Call of Duty 3". Kids and teenagers are watching TV shows such as "That's So Raven", "Danny Phantom", "Avatar: The Last Airbender", and "The Hills". Children are playing with toys such as Pixel Chix, Roboraptor, the PlayStation 3, and the Nintendo Wii.
